The Martian, Andy Weir

An incredible story about a man who uses his vast knowledge of chemistry, physics, and the universe in general to escape a distant planet.

I really appreciated the journal-style writing and brief views into the happenings back on Earth, though Watney has no sense of them. Weir turns his interests and hobbies — including relative physics and orbital mechanics — into a captivating narrative,  and following Watney’s journal to puzzle through the science and equations associated with his own survival is not to be missed. Highly recommend this book, as well as Weir’s newest work, Artemis.
